Welcome to Dogs in the House!
Whether you are starting out in dog boarding, you board your own dogs, or you just like to read about dogs, we’re happy you found our furry little corner of the world.
Meet the Pack
Dee (aka Mama 2)
I don’t remember a time before dogs. From the time I knew doggies said bow wow, I’ve been drawn to these four-legged creatures. I was drawn to them like a dog to a bone. I’ve had a variety of dogs in my life. A tailless chihuahua. A hairless bichon frise. A German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix with whom I traveled cross country. Dogs are not just an accessory to life, they are part of life.
I’ve only lived in two places in my life: Massachusetts (north of Boston and, during college, in the western part of the state) and New Orleans. But I’ve traveled cross country and I’ve been to nearly every state in the country (and counting).
I work full time in communications at a local university but also do a lot of creative writing. I love to read, I’m currently obsessed with podcasts, and I hope to get my house organized before I do. I’m a Francophile, a Jazzerciser, and I think online streaming has changed TV forever. I’m not a big sports fan, but I always root for the Saints and the Red Sox.
We’ve been boarding dogs semi-professionally for about two years and casually for many years before that. My house will never be in Town and Country and it’s nearly impossible for me to walk out the door without being covered in hair, but there’s a lot of love in our house for both dogs and people.
Randy (aka Mr. Daddy)
Randy and Dee met in Destin and it was. Randy grew up in Atlanta and Stone Mountain, Georgia, and the North Georgia mountains run deep in his blood. He’s lived in Northern California and the panhandle of Florida, but it’s New Orleans that has grabbed his soul. A drummer and a Dead Head, Randy’s played in several local bands.
Together, he and Dee have shared their life with three different dogs (full-time) not to mention the countless guest dogs who’ve come to come to their dog hotel. He’s fascinated by birds of prey and has watched The West Wing from start to finish at least four times.
Dylan (aka The Teenager)
At fifteen, Dylan’s a budding entrepreneur with interests in science, robotics, media arts, and gaming. He hopes to become a YouTube star one day as a way to fund his bigger dream of his own industrial empire. He’s a Star Scout and a green sash Shaolin Kung Fu, and he’s lived with dogs his whole life.
Cassie (aka The Top Dog)
The Baroness Cassidy Isabella of the Hollyshire, aka Cassie, is the resident host for the Boling Hotel for Dogs. She’s welcomed dogs from all walks of life to her humble abode, but she thinks she is the biggest of all of them. (She’s not.) Her early life includes being released to the LASPCA, a fact she believed all along was a horrible error in judgment. When she saw Randy walk into the puppy area, she knew she had found her mark. Indeed, she put on her cutest look and in no time Randy was calling Dee to ask if she was the one. According to her DNA profile, she’s half Basset Hound, one quarter American Stafforshire Terrier, and one quarter too many things to distinguish. But she knows she’s just the first of her kind, the South Louisiana Swayback Otterhound, a noble breed. She spends her days defending her property from Zombies, which she is sure are lurking beyond the fenceline. Indeed, we’ve never seen one on our property so it does appear that she has done a good job of keeping them at bay.
